Girls stay sharp and post numbers at HLV

VICTOR – The Montezuma Bravettes put up many, many numbers in their 80-11 run past HLV on Friday evening, Jan. 31.

All 16 rostered Montezuma players saw action. Thirteen of them scored points. Fourteen of them grabbed at least one rebound.

Nine different players dished a total of 17 assists, on 33 made field goals. Nine girls combined for 20 steals. Eleven Bravettes totaled 14 deflections.

Nine different girls hit at least one three-pointer!

Dylan Holland blocked a shot, so none of the usually-reported categories were missed. The Bravettes led 30-2 after one quarter, 54-4 at the half, and 68-6 after three.

What all this indicates is that the Bravettes maintained their focus against a young and overpowered team that is now 2-15 on the season.

Sometimes, the focus thing isn’t that easy to do.

But the Bravettes, now 16-1, did it. Shateah Wetering led all of the scorers with 20 points and Mia Boulton, who drilled four three-pointers, had 12. Dylan Holland scored 9, and had four rebounds, two steals and three deflections.

Shelby Conger scored five points (including a trey), and also five steals.

Here’s a low number: The Bravettes made just two turnovers. Here’s another: HLV shot .238 from the field.

It was a total team win and it was nice all players got some minutes. There was no junior varsity game because of HLV’s low numbers.

The Bravettes shot .478 from the field, and that included 13-for-33 from three-point range.

Montezuma was called for just seven personal fouls and had a 34-19 edge in rebounds.

There are a ton of stats, so rather than repeat a bunch of stuff, I’ll let you gaze through them below.
