Girls take down Keota 12-0 in four innings

For the Bravettes, it was a good result for the final game on friendly turf.

Montezuma beat Keota 12-0 in four innings on Monday evening, July 6, in the final regular season home game for the Bravettes.

Montezuma led 6-0 after two innings, then finished the game on the mercy rule by scoring six more in the bottom half of the fourth.

Senior catcher Carissa Van Zee went two-for-two at the plate, scored three runs, drive in one, and stole a base.

Kailey Shaffer had a big night at the dish, going two-for-three, which included a pair of doubles and four runs batted in.

Katie Reynolds had a hit and drove in two runs.

Izzy Roorda smacked a double and drove in a run.

Also picking up one stolen base each were Kassidy Mathes, Haylee Walters and Tia Shaffer.

Kallie Robison pitched all four innings and struck out eight – two an inning. She allowed four hits and one base on balls.

The win lifted Montezuma to 8-6 on the season.

Keota fell to 0-10.

MONTE JV’S WIN – Montezuma’s junior varsity girls scored a 7-1 win over Keota.
