PLEASANTVILLE – The Bravettes had another beautiful night to run before the district track meet.
The weather on Monday, May 12, was hot, and several of the girls were tired after a long weekend of graduations and Mother’s Day.
However, the girls were still able to put up some good times against strong competition.
Because this was the last meet before districts, we worked through a few different combinations and also worked to get some seeding times for different events.
The girls knew this was a tune-up and that they needed to focus on their end-of-season goals for districts.
Though the girls did not win any events, they fought hard to score points in a variety of places.
Chloe Snook continued to have a stellar season, helping two different relays to top-five finishes, as well as in her events.
Ellen Cook ran a lifetime best in the 1,500 and is starting to get good race control and understanding of what she needs to do.
A few girls were disappointed due to not running season bests, but we are confident they are saving those results for Thursday, when it counts.
The night also saw the conclusion of a great junior girls’ track career. Maddie Muilenburg is graduating at semester next year and will not be part of the track team next season.
Maddie is not in the top two for any of the throwing events, so this was her final night of competition. She showed up and had a huge PR in the discus.
Maddie is a great kid who works hard and is a joy to have on the team. Even on Thursday, she will be running around helping her teammates with whatever they need to accomplish. She will be missed next year on the team!
Overall, it was a good night, and now we need to focus on doing the little things right, controlling what we can control, and leaving our best out on the track or in the circle.
