It was a softball game Montezuma should have won, and did: 14-0 over winless Keota in three innings at home on Thursday, June 9.
Still, after enduring a number of competitive near misses since winning their season-opening game, coming out on top had to feel good to the Bravettes.
The girls have been improving, including in this game when they were sharp on defense, in addition to hitting the ball hard and often.
Junior pitcher Kallie Robison remained hot at the plate. She hit her first career homer the night before at English Valleys. She stroked number two in this game, a three-run shot.
Robison pitched the three innings, allowing one hit and no walks while striking out four.
Madison Van Zee had a strong game on offense. She went 3×3 at the plate and drove in two runs. She added a stolen base and three runs scored.
Montezuma went to 2-9 on the season.
Keota stood at 0-10.
