Girls will open post-season at home!

Coach Janel Burgess holds forth along the sideline.

Montezuma’s girls will keep their eyes on the southeast as they prepare for regional play, which for them begins at home on Feb. 15.

The Bravettes have been placed in the lower bracket of Class 1A Region 6.

They will host the winner of a Feb. 10 game between Highland and Lisbon.

Should the Bravettes advance, they will be home again for the regional semifinal on Feb. 18. Their opposition would be the survivor of a complex that includes English Valleys, Lone Tree, Sigourney and Keota.

The upper bracket of Region 6 includes top-seeded Burlington Notre Dame, Wapello, WACO, Winfield-Mt. Union, Holy Trinity Catholic and New London.

The regional final will be on Feb. 23, at a site to be announced.

The Bravettes can’t face either North Mahaska or Lynnville-Sully until the state tournament, because they are in different regionals.
