| The Bravettes were on the road again, this time in Mingo against a large Tiger-Hawk squad.
The 8th graders came out on fire, with great serving, and a fire to keep every ball off the ground. It was fun to watch them click and work together so well. However, in the second set, the girls fell into a rotation against a strong server from Colfax, and they were unable to get things going. Fortunately, in the third set, the girls rallied and worked to finish on top in a close set. We talk a lot about momentum, and the 8th graders are starting to understand how important it is to let go of a mistake, but stay focused on being hungry to take everything one point at a time. The 7th-grade squad had four girls running in after running at the XC meet in Colfax, so they were a little frazzled in the first set. Also, they were playing the same team that the 8th graders played in their third set. One of the best moments of the match was when Karlie Mostek stepped up to the line to serve. Colfax was one point from winning, and we were three points down. She served us to tie the game, which is huge for a 7th grader to do! We did end up losing the first set in extra points, but then the serves got rolling for us, and the girls were ready to get after it. They cruised the final two sets, and it was amazing to see the smiles and hugs. We may not always be the most talented, but we keep working on being the hardest workers. If they can continue to fight for every point and stay together as a team, they will continue to do amazing things! |
