Grinnell scored five times in the top of the first inning and cruised to a 13-0 win over Montezuma in the Bravettes’ home opener on Tuesday evening, June 16.
Jadyn Sharer and Kalynn Wanders had Montezuma’s two hits, both singles.
Kallie Robison pitched all five innings for the Bravettes and the Tigers reached her for 16 hits. She walked four and struck out seven.
A key to the Grinnell win was keeping the first four batters in the Montezuma order off base.
The win moved Grinnell to 2-2 on the season, while Montezuma fell to 1-1.
