Montezuma’s eighth grade volleyball team swept by Lynnville-Sully 3-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at home.
Meanwhile, the seventh grade girls managed to take one of three sets against L-S.
“Homecoming week is always fun for the students, but can also be a stressful time when trying to get ready for a game,” said Coach Megan Carlson.
“Overall, it was a good night that allowed the Bravettes to learn and improve,” she said.
8th grade: 25-15, 25-11, 25-8.
“The girls started a little slow, but quickly picked up the pace and stopped the L-S squad,” Carlson said.
“The girls still need to focus on not giving away points, whether it is missed serves, free balls hitting the ground, or not setting up the ball,” she added.
“This group has developed so much in the game and I know that they will make adjustments to improve.”
7th grade: 25-21, 22-25, 24-26.
“The girls struggled against an evenly-matched L-S group,” Carlson said. “We missed several serves and did not take advantage of the moments we needed to.”
“This was just the seventh graders’ third match, ever, and the improvements have been huge. However, I know they are capable of so much more,” the coach said.
“They continue to ask great questions and develop their understanding ot the game,” she added.
