Not a pretty sight, if you’re a Braves fan.
Lynnville-Sully dominated the paint and handed Montezuma an 85-58 defeat in the SICL opener on Tuesday, Nov. 28, on the Braves’ floor.
“Lynnville-Sully really hammered us inside,” said Braves Coach Derrick Dengler. “We have to makesure we execute basic fundamental on defense and try to limit their chances.’
The Hawk had plenty of chances in the first half and burst to a 51-30 halftime lead. Montezuma’s defense got better in the second half, but not to the extent the Braves could make any sort of run.
The Hawks shot .556 from the field, to Montezuma’s .368.
Brady Boulton led Montezuma scorers with 23 points and pulled down 9 rebounds.
Max Anderson had an excellent game, with 19 points and three assists.
Garrett Watts knocked in 11 points for Montezuma.
The Braves are at North Mahaska on Friday, Dec. 1.
