DES MOINES – Senior discus thrower Dylan Holland of the Bravettes was rapidly improving as this track season wound down.
She didn’t throw her best at the Class 1A state meet on Friday, May 21, but she was consistent.
Holland had a best of 98 feet, 2 inches. Her other tosses were 95-8, and 98-01.
Dylan qualified last week at 105-5, which was her best throw of the season by almost 10 feet.
As it was, 98-2 was the 21st best throw at state, where she came in as the 17th-best among 24 qualifiers.
Had she been able to throw 105-5 again, it would have moved her up to about 14th place overall.
Still, track and field is all about improving, and Holland certainly did that.
UP NEXT – Montezuma has one more athlete set to perform at state. Brydon Henning will compete in the 800-meter run at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 22.
