‘Hometown Holiday’ will be Dec. 7

Saturday, Dec. 7, has been chosen for Montezuma’s “Hometown Holiday” event.

The event was among topics discussed when the Montezuma Community Boosters met Wednesday, Sept. 4, in The Daily Grind.

Events being considered for Hometown Holiday will be much the same as in recent years: Breakfast with Santa, Cookie Walk at the United Methodist Church, and Story Time at the library.

Entertainment for the evening was not finalized but will be discussed at the October meeting. Last year’s dance recital was successful and members hope to get entertainment of this kind again this year.

Boosters discussed expanding the Summer Nights program. A possible move from Tuesday to Thursday evening was talked about. New ideas for the event included a pet show and ag night, in addition to the regular events – the car show and local vendors.

It was suggested that the event run from June through August, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Let Freedom Ring celebration in July was discussed. It was reported that inflatables have been secured for next year.

Boosters member Loren Elliott said he attended a recent Montezuma Lions Club meeting where he talked with members about joining the Boosters.

Members approved allowing non-profit organizations join for $50 per year. Annual dues are $75 for businesses and $25 for individuals.

The Boosters approved sending a memorial bouquet for the family of Janet Peiffer, who passed away Aug. 31. She had owned and operated Blooming Endeavors flower shop since 2004.

Treasurer Deb Ver Meer reported $175 in Monte Bucks had been redeemed, the majority by the Lions Club.
