Both of the girls all-state basketball teams named recently had a distinct Montezuma flavoring.
Ellen Cook was named to the Class 1A all-state second team for both the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association, and the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.
But the IGCA teams went a little deeper.
Ellen also was named to the all-state academic team.
In addition, Ellen Cook and Bravettes teammate Shiressa Wetering were named to its Southeast Iowa all-district team, with Coach Janel Burgess getting the nod as district coach of the year.
Burgess also was named to coach one of three Class 2A all-star teams earlier in March in Cedar Falls.
Also, Ellen Cook was chosen to play for one of those all-star teams.
