The Montezuma Bravettes junior high “A” team traveled to Pella Christian on Thursday, November 30 to face the Eagles.
Both teams struggled to score in the first quarter as Monte took a 6-4 lead. In the second quarter, the Bravettes started to play well together. Monte took a 18-8 lead to the half.
The Bravettes poured it on in the 3rd quarter to take a 31-11 lead at the end of the third. The final score was Monte 39 – Pella Christian 16.
The Bravettes shot 16-44 (36%) from the field, 3-13 (23%) from long distance and 4-15 (27%) from the line. The Eagles shot 7-30 (23%) from the field, 1-6 (17%) from 3-point range and 1-7 (14%) from the charity stripe. Monte outrebounded the taller Eagles (32-25). The Eagles pressed most of the game but were only able to force 15 turnovers while the Bravettes forced 24.
Lauryn Larmore led the way with 12 points including two 3-pointers. She also had 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Alexa Rose played her first game of the season. She contributed 11 points with a trey. Rosie also had 3 assists and a block.
Ryanne Williams had a nice game with 8 points and 6 steals. Sophia Semprini was very aggressive. She had 3 points and the rebounding with 13. She also had a block. Brielle Haughey only played one quarter but scored 3 points. Marley Stowell had a basket for 2 points.
The A-team got its first win to move to 1-2 on the season.
