JH ‘A’ girls down Iowa Valley, 49-32

The Montezuma Bravettes A-team beat the Iowa Valley Tigers, 49-32, in their final home game on Thursday, Jan. 23.

The Bravettes had a solid first quarter and raced to a 9-4 lead. Monte had one of its biggest scoring quarters of the season when the Bravettes posted 22 in the 2nd quarter to take a 31-12 lead to halftime.

The Tigers pushed back in the 2nd half to outscore the Bravettes 20-11. But, Montezuma won by 10.

The Bravettes shot 15-53 for 28% and 9-20 from the line for 45%. The Tigers were 14-38 for 37% and 4-10 from the line for 40%. The Tigers soundly out-rebounded the Bravettes, 42-28. Montezuma dominated the turnover battle, 28-9.

Jadyn Sharer had 14 points including two 3-pointers. She also had 5 rebounds, 4 assists and a block.

Ashlee Eilander had 9 points & 8 rebounds. Jordan Ranfeld had 7 points. Shiressa Wetering had 5 points.

Alivia Cline had 4 points, 3 assists and 3 steals. Madison Van Zee hit a 3-pointer. Ellen Cook had 7 assists and 3 steals.

The Bravettes also played a B-game against the Tigers. The Bravettes led throughout the game but struggled to score in the 2nd half and the Tigers came back to win, 28-20.

Ava Pargeon, Kylee Larmore, Taylor Wilcox & Harlea Pargeon each scored 4 points. Makenna Johannes & Madison Cheney both had 2 points. The B-team/7th grade team has a combined 6-4 record.

The A-team/8th grade team has a combined 8-1 record. Their next game is Monday, January 27, at Iowa Valley at 3:50 p.m. This will be an 8th graders game. The B-game will follow the A-game.
