JH ‘A’ girls roll; have Jan. 20 game left

The Montezuma Bravettes 8th grade basketball team hosted the Belle Plaine Plainsmen on Tuesday, Jan. 18. This game quickly became a mismatch for the Bravettes versus the less-experienced
Plainsmen.

Monte led 13-4 at the end of the first quarter and 23-4 at the half. In the 2nd half, Monte outscored them 25-0, for a final of 48-4.

The Bravettes played nine girls. All nine girls scored and had at least one rebound. Monte shot 21-69 (30%) from the field, 3-17 (18%) on 3-pointers and 3-6 (50%) from the line. Belle Plaine shot 2-20 (10%) from the field.

Monte led the rebounds stats 39-29. Monte forced 35 turnovers while having 5.

Claire Erselius had a double-double with 15 points and 10 steals. She also hit a 3-pointer.

Lindsey Henry had 8 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks. Chloe
Snook had 7 points, 6 rebounds and a block. Kami Mathes hustled her way to 4 points and 8 steals.

Kieran Perez had 4 points and 5 steals. Haileah Eichenberger hit a 3-pointer to start the game and had a block.

Makenna Warden also hit a 3-pointer. Lily Ferry had 2 points, 7 rebounds & 3 steals.

Krista Cheney had 2 points, 3 assists and a block.

The Bravettes A-team/8th grade moves to 9-1 on the season. They host Iowa Valley in their final home game on Jan. 20.
