SULLY – A slow start proved too hard to overcome as Lynnville-Sully prevailed 47-27 over Montezuma in junior high ‘B’ basketball on Monday, Jan. 17.
The Hawks led 19-8 at halftime.
“We struggled in the first half, especially in the second quarter,” Braves Coach Dennis Phelps said.
The coach said the Braves had problems with fouls and Lynnville-Sully’s press.
“We did respond with great effort and execution on both ends of the floor during the second half,” Phelps said.
Lynnville-Sully added just one point to its lead during second half play.
“Isaac Wedgewood had his best game offensively and Rhett Pargeon hit a big three-point shot,” the coach said. Each player totaled nine points for the game.
Linkin Bru and Cade Stone had four each, and Damien Knox scored one.
“I am very proud how these young players played Lynnville-Sully to one point during the second half,” Phelps said. “We continue to improve and are becoming more aggressive at both ends of the court.”
