Montezuma edged Keota 23-20 in junior high boys B basketball on Monday, Jan. 24, at home.
“We played from behind for most of the game, but we were able to take the lead during the last two minutes,” said Braves Coach Dennis Phelps.
“I was very proud of how we handled the last two minutes with the lead,” the coach said. “We did not turn over the ball when Keota was pressing and trapping.”
Easton Hudnut scored 10 points for Montezuma. Rhett Pargeon had 5, Damien Knox scored 4 and Peyton Tindle and Isaac Wedgewood had two each.
“Easton probably played his best game as our point guard,” Phelps said.
“Our solid defense and rebounding for most of the night kept Keota’s offense down, especially in the second half.”
