The Montezuma junior high boys ‘B’ basketball team had things cooking when they rolled to a 41-8 win at home over Colfax-Mingo, on Tuesday, Jan. 31.
“This was probably the best game of the season for the ‘B’ team,” said Braves Coach Dennis Phelps.
“We had all players back from illness and they got to play together for extended periods of time,” the coach said. “We had a great defensive effort, which led to a number of fast break opportunities.”
Dane Strong scored 20 points for the Braves. Rhett Pargeon scored 9 and Easton Hudnut had 7.
Linkin Bru and Blake Smith scored 2 each, and Peyton Tindle scored one point.
“We continue to improve on attacking the basket and being strong with the ball on all inside shot,” Phelps said.
“We allowed just one point in the second half. Our players really got into the passing lanes and made it very difficult for our opponent to run their offense,” Phelps said.
