BELLE PLAINE – Belle Plaine beat Montezuma 12-8 in half a game of junior high ‘B’ boys basketball on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
“We were able to play just a half because of Belle Plaine’s numbers,” said Montezuma Coach John Beck. Belle Plaine led 8-2 after the first quarter.
“We did a good job at fighting our way back into the game,” Beck said. “We got as close as two points in the second quarter.”
David Rose scored two points, going two-for-two from the line.
Kohen Holland, Spencer Ross and Landen Morrison each scored two points as well.
“Our defense got better as the game went on and we did a great job at forcing difficult shots,” Beck said. “We need to do a better job at boxing our and being more physical on the boards. Belle Plaine had a lot of put-back opportunities.”
“I see a lot of improvements with this group,” Beck said. “They are transferring the skills we practice into the games, and that is something great to see.”
