In the A-game, the JH Braves took down North Mahaska 26-16.
I thought the boys did a really good job in their first game of the season. On the defensive side of the ball, we held them to 4 single-digit quarters. We got back well defensively in transition and this helped us limit their scoring.
We also rebounded well controlling the glass on defense and limiting them to one shot per possession. Tod Geiger and Peyton Minner really worked hard on the glass.
On offense, we pushed the ball well in transition and it led to some good looks at the rim. Garrett Watts and Houston VanRokel did a good job of pushing the ball in.
I thought our shot selection was good and we had some great looks at the basket. Max Anderson, Kohen Holland, Jack Erselius and VanRokel all took great shots that were in rhythm with our offense.
I thought that all the boys did a good job and driving to the basket and getting to the paint to break down North Mahaska’s defense.
Our scoring in the A game:
VanRokel- 9, Holland- 6, Watts- 5, Geiger, Minner and Anderson all with 2.
