It was a bounce back of major proportions for the Montezuma junior high volleyball teams.
After falling to their previous opponent, both teams beat Belle Plaine on Thursday evening, Sept. 30.
“After a tough loss, you need to move on, focus on what needs to be changed, and pray you aren’t the ‘other team’ for the next game,” said Montezuma Coach Megan Carlson.
They weren’t. They were THE team.
The eighth graders won 3-0, on scores of 25-20, 25-15, and 25-22.
The seventh grade girls followed with a 2-1 win, on scores of 25-9, 25-20 and 20-25.
“The girls played outstanding!” Carlson said. “Being able to get back into it for the final seventh grade match of the season, as well as the last home match.”
“The eighth grade squad was consistent and fun to watch as they worked for every ball and kept rallies going,” Carlson said. “They also did an amazing job of setting up the ball to get some great quality attacks.”
“The seventh grade squad played so hard in their season finale and I am so proud of them and how far they have come,” the coach said. “This group is fun, energetic, and stays together throughout matches.”
“I hope they keep working hard in the off-season,” Carlson said. “I am so proud of all of their efforts this year!
