BROOKLYN – Both Montezuma junior high volleyball teams scored victories over BGM on Thursday, Sept. 8.
The eighth grade won all three sets.
The seventh graders took two out of three.
8th grade – 25-12, 25-18, 25-19
“Heading on the road can be challenging for young athletes,” said Montezuma Coach Megan Carlson.
“You have to make sure you have gear ready to go, as well as being mentally prepared,” she said.
“Our girls came ready to play against a scrappy BGM team,” Carlson said. “The girls have improved so much with their net presence and ability to pass the ball. They do a great job of making things hard for the other team.”
“We need to focus on staying ‘up’ and controlling the tempo of the game,” Carlson said.
7th grade – 25-23, 25-13, 15-25
“This crew also had a solid showing, with even more improvement shown throughout,” Carlson said. “The girls are starting to understand the game better and the different responsibilities and roles of players.”
“I am excited to watch them improve even more. It is an absolute joy and blessing seeing the girls’ eyes light up with excitement as they understand the game and develop as players,” the coach said.
“Both groups work very hard and I know they will continue to focus on improving.”
