JH girls kept improving in BGM win

The junior high Bravettes scored a 30-14 win over BGM at home on Monday, Dec. 9.

The Bears’ team is made up of mainly 7th graders. so the Bravettes countered with their 7th grade team.

It was our first game as a 7th grade team this season and we started the game very nervous. We trailed 4-0 early and had to rally to get a 6-6 tie at the end of the first.

Monte started to play better in the 2nd quarter. When Harlea Pargeon connected on a power point to end the half, the Bravettes led 14-8.

Monte played much stronger in the 2nd half. The Bravettes dominated the 3rd quarter, 12-4, and won. 30-14.

The Bravettes shot 13-52 for 25%. The Bears were 7-42 for 17%. BGM dominated the boards 46-31. Monte turned it over 11 times. BGM had 26 turnovers.

Shiressa Wetering scored 12 points and had 2 blocks. Harlea Pargeon had 8 points and led the rebounding with 10.

Ellen Cook did a nice job running the point. She had 6 points, 7 assists and 5 steals. Ava Pargeon had 2 points and 3 steals. Kylee Larmore had 2 points.

We played 2 extra quarters after the first game. Monte won 20-0. Kylee Larmore scored 12 points. Madison Cheney scored 6 points. Taya Sincox had 2 points.

ON TAP – The Bravettes go to Pella Christian on Thursday. Dec. 12, to play 7th and 8th grade games. The 7th graders start at 4:30 p.m., with the 8th graders following.
