KEOTA – The Keota Eagles junior high girls A-team were a smart, well-coached and aggressive team when the Bravettes defeated them 40-27 on Tuesday, Dec. 14.

The Bravettes held tight leads throughout the first half leading 9-8
after 1 quarter and 18-14 at halftime.

The Eagles handled our press better than any other SICL JH team.

Monte extended its lead slightly in the 3rd quarter but the pesky Eagles would not quit. Monte led 29-21 at the end of
the 3rd.

The Bravettes pulled away in the 4th as the Eagles tired.

The stats are not exactly correct because of a camera malfunction in 5 minutes of the 2nd quarter. Here is what I have: Monte shot 13-41 for 32% from the field with 3-8 on 3’s and 11-22 on free throws. Keota was 13-44 for 30% from the field and 1-4 on 3’s with 0-3 on free throws.

The Eagles out-rebounded the Bravettes (37-27) using good positioning. The Bravettes had 11 turnovers while forcing 22.

Claire Erselius led the way again with 23 points including two 3-pointers. She also had 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Sydnee Burgess had 4 points and 5 rebounds.

Vivian Cook had 3 points, 5 rebounds & 4 steals. Haileah Eichenberger had 3 points hitting her shot from behind the arc.
