Montezuma’s two junior high school volleyball teams progressed during their second matches of the season at home on Thursday, Sept. 9.
The seventh graders were 3-0 winners over BGM, on scores of 25-19, 25-7 and 25-14.
The eighth grade girls won 2-1, on scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 18-25.
“BGM provided a large squad with a few quality servers and passers,” Bravettes coach Megan Carlson said. “Our eighth graders responded very well and were able to play two very strong sets before falling in the third set.”
“This group is moving the ball very well and continues to focus on setting the pace,” Carlson said. “We still need to work on some coverage issues, but I am pleased with how they are progressing,” she said.
“The seventh grade squad had a very slow start against the BGM serving. This was frustrating for everyone,” Carlson said, “but the girls rallied and showed the strength of their squad.”
“This group continues to improve with great passing, teamwork and also general volleyball knowledge,” the coach said.
“We have some rotation and coverage issues to work on, but we have a lot to be proud of!”
