SIGOURNEY – It was a new opponent for junior high volleyball, but Montezuma’s success continued. The Bravettes won both the seventh and eighth grade matches 2-1 over Sigourney on Thursday, Sept. 23.
Scores were 25-16, 25-8 and 13-25 for the seventh grade.
The eighth graders won 25-19, 25-15, and 8-25.
“When you face a new opponent, you never quite know what is going to happen,” said Montezuma Coach Megan Carlson.
“The girls started very well in all of the sets, but ran into a few roadblocks throughout,” she said. “Thankfully, each group was able to walk away with a 2-1 finish.”
“I love watching the girls compete and face challenges,” Carlson said. “These skills and situations are going to help them as they progress in other activities and even in life.”
Carlson said, “this group works hard, supports each other and has improved so much throughout the season. With only three games left, we need to focus on staying consistent and not letting the other team set the pace.”
