With everything that is going on in the world right now, it felt great to have a chance to play some volleyball!
Montezuma’s junior high teams host North Mahaska for their season opener on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Both Bravette teams won two of three games from their opponent.
The teams were down a few girls due to cross county, illness, and family trips. I am proud of how the girls responded and were able to find some spark within to go against a tough opponent.
The North Mahaska team was very evenly matched to the Bravette squad and it was good for the girls to be pushed and work throughout the games.
The first game is always nerve-racking with 7th graders stepping foot on the court for the first time and after only a week and a half of practices.
The girls moved well and did a lot of great things to help them gain some confidence moving forward.
The 8th graders dropped a big lead in the first, but were able to come back from a big deficit to even it up and then walk away with the third.
Both of these teams need to focus on movement and being prepared, but I am excited to watch them grow!
7th Grade – Montezuma won 2-1 on scores of 25-22, 25-8 and 13-15.
8th Grade – Montezuma won 2-1 on scores of 24-26, 25-23 and 15-9.
