After a few road matches, it was great to be home again,” said Montezuma junior high volleyball Coach Megan Carlson.

The eighth grade girls rolled 3-0, while the seventh graders took one out of three sets.

The matches were played Thursday, Sept. 22.

8th grade – 25-6, 25-17 and 25-12.

The eighth grade squad played hard and as an all-around team,” Carlson said. “The girls have learned so much about the game and continue to develop solid skills and strategies throughout the matches.”

It is so much fun working with them, as we can work on some fun and advanced skills,” said the coach. “They still need to focus on playing complete games and keeping their energy up.”

7th grade – 25-15, 11-25 and 7-25.

The seventh graders came out super-hot in the first set, however, Sigourney figured it out behind the line and challenged the girls with serve receive,” Carlson said.

Being so young, it is a challenge to get out of the hole and figure out what needs to be done,” she said.

This tough loss allows the girls to understand both sides of the game better and how we need to continue to work on controlling the space between our ears to be solid competitors and teammates,” Carlson said.

I know they will put it back together and we will have many more awesome experience for the season.”
