Both Montezuma junior high volleyball teams defeated Iowa Valley on Monday, Sept. 30.
It is a great experience when the girls get to play a team for the second time and that is what happened when Iowa Valley came to Monte.
Earlier in the year the 7th grade team was swept by a strong serving Tiger squad, however it was a different story the second time around.
The 7th graders came out on a mission and pushed Iowa Valley to come away with a 2-1 win. I am so proud of how much this group has improved throughout the season and now they are starting to put it all together. They still have two more games and if they play how they did against Iowa Valley, it should be another good experience for the girls.
The 8th grade group swept Iowa Valley earlier in the season and were able to come away with a 2-1 victory.
The girls had a few lapses and they know that they need to stay focused throughout the games and hopefully they can do that for the final two games.
The 8th grade group is fun to watch and have been working on a lot of different skills. They just need to focus on cutting down on errors and always applying pressure to the opponents.
