Junior High Volleyball vs. Colfax-Mingo

The first junior high match is always nervous time.

This match was really loud! proved to be the loudest JH game ever, I felt like it was at a state championship event. My ears are still ringing.

The 8th-grade team started the night against a strong-serving Colfax-Mingo squad. Throughout the match, the girls did so many great things, but their nerves would get the best of them and silly mistakes would piled up.

But, in one year, the growth in this team has been amazing. They are working together, setting up balls, and understanding more about the game. I know as the season goes on, they will trust each other on the court and not let the nerves control them.

Four of the girls on the 7th grade team ran their first cross-country event in Grinnell before heading back to Monte to play volleyball. Running and getting those nerves out must have helped them because they were able to take control of some very tight sets.

This team is so young and inexperienced, but they support each other and are excited about the game. They continue to be little sponges wanting to learn more and improve. I hope they keep that drive as the season continues.

8th grade: 11-25, 13-25, 25-16

7th grade: 26-24, 21-25, 26-24
