JV boys edge Tri-County, 42-39

THORNBURG – The Montezuma boys outlasted Tri-County, 42-39, in a tight junior varsity basketball game on Thursday, Feb. 3.

The Braves led 10-8 at the quarter break, 22-19 at halftime, and 29-27 after three.

Montezuma knocked down seven three-pointers, but Tri-County had 8. The Braves shot .314 from the field, but the Trojanes shot .382.

The difference came from the foul line, where Montezuma was 13-for-23, to 5-5 for the Trojans. The Braves were called for 7 personal fouls, to Tri-County’s 13.

Max Anderson led the Braves with 16 points and 5 rebounds.

Houston Van Roekel scored 10 points.

Kohen Holland had 9 points and 4 rebounds for Montezuma.
