JV boys fall short in first two games

We’re having a rocky start to the season.

We do not have a lot of guys on our team right now, so the boys who are playing are in the game almost the whole time.

We started off both games really well, but we unfortunately ran out of gas toward the end. That is our biggest hurdle to overcome right now.

Players get after a loose ball at North Mahaska. (Submitted).

Offensively, we do a great job attacking the basket and creating space. The main thing we need to work on is taking care of the basketball and to not make silly turnovers.

Defensively, we have a lot of young guys in new positions so we tend to over-help, which creates gaps.

And we really need to improve on our rebounding game. We cannot give the opponent free opportunities for points. Luckily we have a few days to rest and improve upon our skills. I’m excited to play again next Monday.
