JV defense squeezes the Eagles

PELLA – Strong defense, both on-ball and from the help side, keyed the JV Bravettes to a 51-17 win over Pella Christian on Tuesday evening, Nov. 26.

That’s according to Coach Kevin Gartman, whose team moved its record to 3-0 on the season.

The Bravettes led 13-3 after one quarter, 22-7 by halftime and 38-11 through three periods.

Five Montezuma players scored seven or more points: Madison Johannes (11), Kierstyn Price (10), Kallie Robison (9), Korinn Kehoe (8) and Ashlyn Krousie (7).

Montezuma led 21-16 in rebounds and shot .426 (20-47) from the field to Pella Christian’s .111 (4-36).

Five Bravettes splashed down one three-point basket each.

Krousie led with six rebounds and Johannes had five.

Alyssa Cline dished three assists.

Krousie (5) and Johannes (4) led the team in steals.

UP NEXT – The JV’s play at Colfax-Mingo at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2.
