MARENGO – Category by category, the girls JV game between Montezuma and Iowa Valley couldn’t have been much closer.
The final score was, too, with Iowa Valley edging the Bravettes, 41-38, in action on Monday, Feb. 1.
The score was 8-8 after one quarter, with the Tigers leading 22-17 at halftime. The Bravettes had a strong third quarter and took a 26-25 lead into the final period.
Each side shot .333 from the field. There were quite a few turnovers, but with 29 on one team and 26 on the other, there wasn’t a lot of difference. Montezuma did lead 18-12 in rebounding.
Alivia Cline had a huge game for Montezuma, with 20 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Jordan Ranfeld scored eight points.
Izzy Roorda had three assists, four points and three rebounds.
Kallie Robison had three rebounds, while Ashlee Eilander blocked two shotS.
The JV girls will be part of a quad night against HLV at home on Saturday evening, Feb. 6.
