BROOKLYN – The Montezuma Bravettes JV basketball team used pressure defense and active ball movement to take a lead early and let it continue to grow as Montezuma defeated BGM 55-13.
The game was played Friday evening, Dec. 13.
Playing in their third game of the week, the girls found their stride as they played their most complete game of the season, and it was a lot of fun to watch.
The Bravettes were led in scoring by Korrinn Kehoe with 15 points, but had nine girls contribute to the final point total with balanced scoring.
The girls continued their hot shooting from 3-point range as they went 6-for-12, while also coming away with 17 steals.
Kehoe added six rebounds and four steals to her 15 points. Several others got close to double figures, including Alyssa Cline with nine points, Ashlyn Krousie with eight and Madison Johannes with eight.
Kierstyn Price scored four, as did Rayna Hammen and Kallie Robison.
Krousie had six rebounds and Robison pulled down five.
Johannes had seven assists and Price had four.
The Bravettes shot .382 from the field overall and limited BGM to .167 field goal shooting. Montezuma won the board battle 21-16, and had just five turnovers, compared with 21 by the Bears.
The win pushed the Bravettes to 7-0 on the season.
