JV girls take record to 10-0

The Montezuma Bravettes JV team beat Sigourney 45-14 at home on Monday, Jan. 6.

It was the teams’ second meeting of the season and the start of three games in a busy week for Montezuma.

The Bravettes’ defensive pressure got to the Lady Savages early, pushing Montezuma to a 11-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 23-6 lead at halftime.

The Bravettes offense was able to get some patient looks, while also scoring several points in transition on the victory.

Madison Johannes recorded a double-double in the game, scoring 11 points to go with 10 steals.

As a team, the Bravettes recorded 23 steals on the night. They were part of 29 turnovers for Sigourney, compared to 17 by the Bravettes.

Kierstyn Price scored eight points and dished five assists in the winning effort. Alyssa Cline scored eight point, including a pair of three-pointers. Kallie Robison scored six points.

Korinn Kehoe had six rebounds and Robison pulled down five.

Montezuma shot .439 from the field, compared to Sigourney’s .208, and the Bravettes had 17 more shot attempts.

COMING UP – With the win, the Montezuma JV girls move to 10-0 on the season with a game against Tri-County upcoming as a back-to-back on Tuesday and English Valleys on Friday.
