The Montezuma Bravettes JV girls basketball team moved to 12-0 on the season with a 37-22 home win over North Mahaska on Thursday evening, Jan. 16.
In a lower-scoring game with some “unfriendly rims”, the Bravettes used defensive pressure to create more offensive opportunities which paid off in the end.
Montezuma led 6-3 at the end of the first quarter and 14-13 at halftime. The Bravettes pushed on, using a 14-0 third quarter to spur the 37-22 victory.
Kallie Robison led the Bravettes with 10 points while Madison Johannes added 9 and Kierstyn Price contributed 7.
Robison had seven rebounds, Alyssa Cline dished four assists, and Johannes had six steals.
The Bravettes had just 13 turnovers, to 23 by North Mahaska.
The win pushes the Bravettes to 12-0 on the season with a make-up half against English Valleys set for Monday, Jan. 20, at home.
