Kennen Roadcap wins SICL mat title

COLFAX – Montezuma senior Kennen Roadcap is an SICL champion.

Roadcap roared to the 220-pound title at the South Iowa Cedar League meet on Saturday, Jan. 28.

The Braves senior only had to wrestle twice after receiving byes into the semifinals. He then pinned both of his foes, the first in 30 seconds, the second in 2:41.

Roadcap moved his season record to 33-4 in the process, with the post-season still ahead.

Roadcap had an injury-plagued junior year when he won 16 matches.

Montezuma took four wrestlers to SICL and all made it to the medals stand.

Brett Plants at 170 pounds and Braxton Plants at 182 were fourth place finishers, while Owen Desrochers was sixth at 138.

Montezuma’s four grapplers scored 57 team points, placing them ninth in a 10-team field. Belle Plaine won the meet with 241 points.
