Kotar’s 37 leads JVs to 2-overtimes win

VICTOR – You might not witness a more exciting basketball game all season, at any level.

Montezuma’s Nik Kotar poured in 37 points and the JV Braves scored a 52-49 double overtime win over HLV on Tuesday evening, Jan. 18.

Kotar’s 37 came on 12-for-22 shooting from the field, including four-for-nine from behind the arc, and a nine-for-10 effort from the free throw line.

The 6-4 senior led the Braves with nine rebounds. He also had three steals, three blocked shots and assisted two of Montezuma’s other five baskets.

HLV led 12-4 after one quarter and 18-15 at halftime. It was tied at 28 after three quarters, at 39 at the end of regulation and at 46 through one overtime.

Jack Erselius scored six points for the Braves, Carter Michalek had five and Alex Black and Kohen Holland scored two points each.

Both of Erselius’ baskets were three-pointers. Michalek splashed down a seventh trey for the Braves.

Montezuma shot .459 from the field, including 7-17 on treys.

The Braves had a 22-10 lead in rebounds.
