L-S 7th grade girls win over Bravettes, 31-24

The Montezuma Bravettes 7th grade girls basketball team hosted the Lynnville-Sully Hawks on Monday, December 12.

This was a battle between two of the top 7th girls team in the South Iowa Cedar League.

Monte took the first quarter lead, 8-7. The Hawks rallied in the second to take a 15-13 lead at halftime.

The third quarter was a defensive battle. Sully took a 20-16 lead to the 4th. Lauryn Larmore hit a 3-pointer early in the 4th to get it to 20-19. The Hawks maintained a slight lead the entire fourth quarter until Monte was forced to foul late.

The Hawks made their free throws and got the hard fought win 31-24.

Monte shot 8-33 (24%) for the game including 1-4 (25%) from long distance and 7-15 (47%) from the line. Sully shot 11-41 (27%) from the field and 9-19 (47%) from the line.

The Hawks won the rebound battle 36-28. Monte had 20 turnovers while forcing the LS girls into 19.

Lauryn Larmore had a big game with 19 points including a 3-pointer. She also had 10 rebounds.

Alexa Rose had 4 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Sophia Semprini had 1 point, 5 rebounds and a steal. 

The Montezuma Bravettes 7th grade moves to 3-2  on the season.
