L-S prevails over the Braves, 7-4

SULLY – Both baseball teams have .500 records for the season after Lynnville-Sully’s 7-4 win over Montezuma on Wednesday evening, July 1.

Montezuma had a great start, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. But the Braves added just one more run.

Meanwhile, Lynnville-Sully scored four times in its half of the third to go up 5-3, then played add-on.

The Braves had five hits, including a pair of triples from Cole Watts, who drove in a run with one of them.

Getting one hit each were Preston Hirsch, Connor Van Zee and Kodie Strong. Hirsch also added a pair of walks, while Strong stole a base.

Brayden Arendt had Montezuma’s other run batted in.

Eddie Burgess pitched all six innings for the Braves, giving up seven hits and seven runs, four of which were earned. He didn’t walk a batter, hit one, and struck out seven.

Starter Bray Noun Harder pitched 4.2 innings for the Hawks and got the the victory. He got 3.1 innings of scoreless, hitless relief from Payton Van Wyk.

The Braves are at 4-4 on the season, while the Hawks moved to 6-6.
