The softball Bravettes have shown efficiency in just about every phase, but not always in the same game.
They had things going pretty well in a season-opening, 8-3 win over Lynnville-Sully. But the Bravettes followed that win with five straight defeats.
Friday night, June 3, they played again, this time in Montezuma.
This time it was the Hawks coming out on top 6-4, as Lynnville-Sully squelched a late-game comeback by the Bravettes.
The Hawks scored four runs in the second inning, and went on top 6-0 in the fifth.
But the Bravettes came to life on offense, scoring three times in the fifth. They plated one run in the sixth, but got no closer.
Tia Shaffer went 2×2 for the Bravettes and stole a base.
Kallie Robison drove in a run for Montezuma.
Robison also pitched, going all seven innings and yielding just five hits while striking out six. Just two of the six runs scored against her were earned.
The Hawks stole five bases, but made four errors, to Montezuma’s two.
