SULLY – Sometimes, even in defeat you can come away with a certain sense of accomplishment.
The Bravettes played a strong game against a good team, but fell, 4-2, at Lynnville-Sully on Wednesday evening, July1.
Lynnville-Sully, 11-1, led 2-0 into the fifth inning and 4-0 into the seventh. The Bravettes put up their two runs in their final at bat.
The Bravettes played errorless ball behind pitcher Kallie Robison, who scattered six Lynnville-Sully hits over six innings. She allowed four runs, all earned, walked one and struck out two.
Katie Reynolds recorded four putouts in center field.
The Bravettes also had six hits. Jadyn Sharer and Izzy Roorda each went two-for-three at the plate.
Kailey Shaffer and Haylee Walters each had one hit, with Walters driving in a run with hers.
Kalynn Wanders also drove in a run for Montezuma.
The defeat ended a three-game winning streak for the Bravettes, who fell to 7-5 on the season. Lynnville-Sully’s only defeat was to Class 3A Albia.
UP NEXT – The Bravettes are scheduled to play Colo-Nesco on Thursday, July 2, in McCallsburg. First pitch is at 5:30 p.m. with JVs to play first.
