The Montezuma Bravettes 7th grade team hosted the Lynnville-Sully Hawks on Monday, December 16.
The Hawks are a strong and experienced 7th grade team. Sully jumped on the Bravettes early getting out to a 6-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Monte struggled in the second quarter as L-S took a 12-2 lead at halftime. The third quarter was also difficult for the home team as the Hawks extended their lead to 26-6. The final score was 32-10.
Monte shot 4-18 (22%) from the field, 0-1 from 3-point range and 2-5 from the free throw line. L-Sully shot 16-49 (33%) from the field, 0-1 from 3-point range and 0-6 from the free throw line. Both teams had 24 rebounds. Turnovers plagued the Bravettes with 29 as the Hawks had 8.
Lexi Urfer had 4 points and 7 rebounds. Alyssa Latcham had 2 points, 5 rebounds, and a block. Lucy Semprini and Allyssa Bos each had 2 points. Aubree DeJoode had a block.
The Montezuma Bravettes 7th graders move to 3-4 on the season. Their next game will be January 13 at home vs North Mahaska.
