Senior Chloe Latcham drove in the winner in the bottom half of the seventh inning as Montezuma edged Tri-County, 3-2, in varsity softball action at home on Wednesday evening, June 17.
The victory lifted the Bravettes to 2-1 on the season.
This was actually the first game of a varsity doubleheader. (Things change fast in the ‘new normal’!) The Bravettes came right back in the nightcap for a 5-4 win, putting them at 3-1 for the season.
Two runs by the Bravettes in the bottom of the fifth tied the game at 2-2. Latcham then delivered her game-winning hit in the seventh.
Meanwhile, Bravettes pitcher Kallie Robison was holding the Trojans at bay, limiting them to seven hits over seven innings. She allowed two runs, one earned, walked no one and struck out eight.
The Bravettes had a six-hit attack, including two each by Carissa Van Zee and Kalynn Wanders. Jadyn Sharer and Katie Reynolds also had one hit each. Sharer and Latcham had runs batted in.
The Bravettes stole four bases, one each by Van Zee, Walters, Reynolds and Jordan Ranfield.
