Late run beats the Bravettes, 5-4

KEOSAUQUA – Van Buren County scored a run in the fifth inning to snap a 4-4 tie, then held on to beat the Bravettes 5-4 in the Van Buren tournament on Saturday, June 4.

The game was as close and competitive as the final score makes it sound.

Van Buren County outhit the Bravettes by a 7-6 margin and stole four bases to the Bravettes’ three. Montezuma was guilty of just one error.

Izzy Roorda drove in two runs with a hit and Abby Pope had a hit and stole a base for Montezuma.

Kallie Robison pitched six innings, scattering those seven hits. She walked three and struck out one.

The win lifted Van Buren County to 2-3 on the season.

The Bravettes fell to 1-7.
