An example of the many guest programs that have provided entertainment and education was when Al Pinder, publisher of the Grinnell Herald-Register, visited the club in August 1977.

He gave a behind-the-scenes picture report on a trip to Russia. But this picture was taken when he was doing an entertainment encore and the smiles of his audience show he performed well, making a tall tree out of an ordinary newspaper.

Lions identifiable are, from left, Keith Watts, Marvin Bunnell, Roger McClure, Chuck Wengert, Ed Hatcher, I.A. Gabriel, Ed Holland and Roger Watson.

There were 41 members present for this meeting at the Stockman’s Inn.

UKRAINE. That is a country unfamiliar to many here until 2022. But in October 2013 exchange student Dmytro “Dina” Kravchuk, at left, and his host mother Stacy Helm, at right, enlightened the Lions. Dina, his home country Ukraine nickname and how he is known here, is one of many exchange students who have been guest speakers for the club.
FRANK HEATH of Grinnell provided an interesting county history program and provided music by turning a saw into a violin. This was in July 2013 when the club was meeting at the Foster Center.
WHEN RAY “BUBBA” Sorensen was in town painting the Poweshiek Co. Freedom Rock, he was also a guest speaker for the Lions in August 2016
