Karl Fleming was the lucky winner of the $370 stereo at the Montezuma Merchants 5th annual Ridiculous Days celebration.

Due to inclement weather the Lions Club moved their chicken barbeque under the canopy of Vannoy Chevrolet where they served over 700 people. The 15th annual Cornland Square Dance was moved from the slab at the school to the Memorial Hall where 50 couples danced early into the morning.

Russell Talbert suffered a broken right leg after an accident at the intersection of East Jefferson and Fifth Street. His 1966 Honda motorcycle was headed north when it collided with a 1966 Chrysler traveling west driven by Doug McKinney.

Jim Arendt will compete in the Tournament of Champions 54-hole golf classic at Atlantic, Iowa, on Friday through Sunday with 18 holes each day.

Judy (Phillips) Roorda and Mike Van Cleave have received activity achievement award scholarships at William Penn College.

Tony Lammers, MHS ’69, is stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., after his enlistment in the United States Army.

Navy Petty Officer Second Class Michael R. Johnston, MHS ’66, is serving aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Okinawa in the Western Pacific.

Larry Pugh, MHS ’50, has accepted a position as hospital consultant in the medical division of the Ellerbe Architects of St. Paul, MN. He previously had been an administrator at the DeKalb Public Hospital in Illinois.

Dale Crider, MHS ’65, is receiving training at the Army Reserve Officer Training Corp at Ft. Riley, KS.

Twenty-three members of the MHS class of 1960 attended their 10-year reunion at the City Park on July 26. Notable attendees included Jane (Busby) Audas, Donna (Pargeon) Klein, and Ron Hedrick.
