Where were you the week of April 30, 1970?
New industrial arts teacher next year at MHS will be Robert Albin Jr., a June graduate of Northwest Missouri State College at Maryville. Albin will replace Carl Drost, who has resigned to enter the military service.
Jim Williamson was elected president of the Lions Club, succeeding Frank Bryan.
Kevin Miller’s score of 86 led the Braves as they finished third in the SICL golf tournament. Dick Rabenold, 88, Dan Steffy 93, Jeff Stripling 95, and Steve Wiley 95, rounded out the scoring.
Lions Club to treat the Bravettes to “Hello Dolly” movie in Des Moines as well as a steak dinner.
Kim Mathes and Keith Johnson receive the Iowa Farmer Degree at the 42nd Annual State FFA Leadership Conference at Cedar Rapids.
Lisa Steele, Stacy Audas, Penne Klein, Jana Pargeon, Wendy Boeding, Elizabeth Henry and Lorraine Fleming are among 27 girls taking part in Kindergarten Round-up.
Lea Arendt bowls a 231 and a 201 on her way to a 575 series at Star Lanes. Mel Elliot has a high game of 243, Ken Gray a 219, Don Fahlenkamp a 235. Lester Galbraith and Russ Wyatt each bowl a high game of 212.
Ricky Sumpter, Phil Reams, Daniel Moore, Wade Hall, Troy Freeborn, Karl Williamson, Jeff Havel and John Van Roekel, and 15 other boys participated in Kindergarten Round-up.
Jack Morrissey finished second in the two-mile run and Ken Krumm took 1st place in the long jump as the Braves scored 33 points at the First Annual Warhawk Relays held at New Sharon.
Keith “Bear” Johnson places first in the shot put with a heave 45’2” at the Waco Relays. The two-mile relay team of Kercheval, Ferneau, Schuldt, and Van Cleave finished first in a time of 9:02.5.
Montezuma grads Dale Watson, Susan Braley, and Dennis Kelly were named to Dean’s List at Iowa State University. Rebecca Everett (think Becky Sinkler) represented the New Sharon contingent.
