The Braves invade Tiger Land on Friday. Coach Brand’s team, 7-2 last year, will face a 44-man squad at Marengo with kick-off slated for 7:30 pm.
Larry Homes, business teacher turned photographer, fills in for his pal Roger Allen to take pictures of the winners at the Garden Club Flower Show. Winners include Mrs. Irma Fitzsimmons, Mrs. Clarence Duffus, Mrs. Roger Sunleaf, and Mrs. Warren James.
Montezuma school enrollment is at 671, “down” 14 pupils from 685 in the 1969-70 school year. The junior class is the largest at 71 (possibly the largest ever?) while the 5th grade has “only” 40 students.
Bernece Ryan, junior high math teacher at Montezuma, is one of 23 women in the United States and Canada to fly solo this past year.
Duane Ferneau, MHS ’67, has been assigned to Lowry AFB in Colorado for weapons training.
Marilee Gruneich sets the bar rather high for her younger sister, as she was one of 300 students named to the honor roll for the summer session at Northeast Missouri State College in Kirksville, MO.
The main dish listed on school menu for the week of September 14-18 features chili, little smokies, sloppy joes, pizza, tuna and wieners as the main dish.
“School Night for Scouting” will be held on Thursday at 8 pm at the school with Scoutmaster Bob Sanders and Junior High Principal Tom Erickson.
Ed Henry dominated the Big Eight league at Star Lanes with a high game of 203 and high series of 556.
Lois Trimble and Marie McWilliams tie for high game in the Star Light league with a 183.
Bob Rauch bowls at 243 on his way to a 562 series in the Tri County league.
